If you are looking for a place that is remote and has blended modern times with its cultural roots, then Palau is the place for you. It has some of the best scuba diving in the world alongside other outdoor activities. Geauxing Places Travel in Denham Springs, Louisiana can handle your vacation to Palau as it is one of the destinations that we have experience organizing travels to. If you’re interested in a visit to Palau, you should pay attention to the following tips.
Palau does have 5-star and 4-star resorts but most of the accommodations are simple lodges. Homestays and Bed and Breakfast establishments are also available. Divers also have the option of renting a Palau liveaboard.
Palau can be visited all year round. If you are interested in diving particularly, the best months are between November and April as visibility is incredible.
The Roman Tmetuchl International Airport is Palau’s International Airport. Its code is ROR. It is located outside the town of Airai, on Babeldaob island. Babeldaob island is the current capital of Palau. Koror island where you will be visiting is just a short drive from the airport. The two islands connected by a bridge.
For visits of 30 days or less, a visa will be issued at the airport upon your arrival. Visitors are required to have a passport and onward travel documents. You can, however, arrange for longer stays after your arrival.
Overall Palau is considered safe, but curfews have businesses closing overnight. From Monday to Thursdays, the curfew is from 2:30 am to 5:00 am while Fridays to Sundays and during public holidays, business aren’t open from 4:00 am to 6:00 am only. Koror where you’ll be headed is also the location of the nation’s only hospital. Belau National Hospital provides primary healthcare, emergency care, surgery, inpatient, pediatric and outpatient services. The hospital has basic diagnostic radiology equipment including CT scans, X-rays, and mammograms. The hospital also has a decompression chamber for diving-related accidents. In the situation where there is a severe case, there is an option of being medically evacuated to Manila.
The island of Koror where you will stay is quite small and the only public transportation is an evening bus from the resorts to the center of the island. Another bus runs to the airport but we'd advise that you arrange an airport pick up from your resort.
If Koror sounds like just the place for you, then Geauxing Places Travel can organize your trip there. We also handle trips to lots of other destinations and would love to hear from you. Contact us today!
